Instructions
Preferred specimen: 6 mL whole blood collected in Green-top (Lithium Heparin) tube Special instructions: Fill a lithium heparin blood collection tube (minimum volume 6 mL) and gently mix by inverting the tube several times to dissolve the heparin.
Transport Temperature
Specimen: Whole blood Volume: 6 mL Minimum Volume: 6 mL Specimen Container: Green-Top (Lithium Heparin) Tube Specimen Collection: Fill a lithium heparin blood collection tube (minimum volume 6 mL) and gently mix by inverting the tube several times to dissolve the heparin. Storage Instructions: After collection, the blood can be held at room temperature (17 to 25 degrees Celsius) for up to three hours, and then placed at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius for up to 48 hours. Alternatively, blood can immediately be placed at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius for up to 48 hours. *After refrigeration, the lithium heparin tube MUST equilibrate to room temperature (17 to 25 degrees Celsius) prior to the transfer to QFT-Plus Blood Collection Tubes. *Aliquoted QFT-Plus Blood Collection Tubes should be placed in the 37 degree Celsius incubator within two hours of blood transfer. *NOTE: Total time from blood draw to incubation in QFT-Plus Blood Collection Tubes should NOT exceed 53 hours. Transport Temperature: Refrigerate Stability: Room Temp: 3 hours Refrigerate: 48 hours Frozen: Unacceptable Cause for Rejection: Whole blood received in any tube type other than lithium heparin; received at room temperature; received greater than 48 hours from time of draw; hemolyzed blood; insufficient blood volume. Under-filled or over-filled tubes; tubes that do not yield sufficient plasma for testing.
