Instructions
Minimum 2.5mL blood

Transport Temperature
Lab Only: This test is specifically for the radiology procedures Adrenal Vein Sampling and Inferior Petrosal Sinus Vein Sampling. The specimens arrive in the lab with a sheet detailing how to log samples. It is recommended that tubes of blood are to be kept closed at all times and in a vertical position. It is required that the serum or plasma be physically separated from contact with cells within two hours from the time of collection. Analyze fresh specimens, if possible. Separated specimens are stable for 8 hours at room temperature. If testing will be delayed more than 8 hours, remove plasma or serum from the red blood cells, clot or separator gel. Specimens removed from the red blood cells, clot or separator gel may be stored at 2 to 8°C for up to 14 days and frozen at ? -20°C for 30 days. Stored specimens must be inspected for particulates. If present, mix and centrifuge the specimen to remove particulates prior to testing. Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles. Specimens must be mixed THOROUGHLY after thawing, by LOW speed vortexing or by gently inverting, and centrifuged prior to use to remove red blood cells or particulate matter to ensure consistency in the results.
