Adults: 4 mL Yellow gel tube *Pediatric minimum: 2 red-top microtainers*


Transport Temperature
Test Includes: Lipid panel; total cholesterol:HDL ratio Special Instructions: State patient’s age and sex on the request form. Specimen: Serum (preferred) or plasma Volume: 1 mL Minimum Volume: 0.7 mL (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.) Container: Red-top tube, gel-barrier tube, OR green-top (lithium heparin) tube. Do NOT use oxalate, EDTA, or citrate plasma. Collection: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 45 minutes of collection. Lipid panels are best avoided for three months following acute myocardial infarction, although cholesterol can be measured in the first 24 hours. Storage Instructions: Refrigerate
