Instructions
Protect from light. Patient should fast for 12 hours.


Transport Temperature
Specimen: Serum or plasma, protected from light Volume: 1.0 mL Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.) Container: EDTA (lavender-top) plasma, preferred. Also acceptable are lithium heparin (green-top) plasma, gel-separated (SST) serum, and standard (red-top) serum. For amber plastic transport tube and amber-top, order Labcorp No. 23598. Collection: The blood is to be collected by venipuncture into a Vacutainer® blood collection tube and mixed immediately by gentle inversion at least six times to ensure adequate mixing. Allow serum samples to clot for at least 10 minutes. Separate plasma/serum from red cells by centrifugation. Protect from light. Transfer plasma/serum specimen to labeled amber plastic transport tube with amber stopper. For amber plastic transport tube and amber stopper, order Labcorp No. 23598. Storage Instructions: Specimens should be light-protected, and shipped at room temperature or refrigerated (preferred). Stability Requirements: Room Temp 7 days Refrigerated 14 days Frozen 14 days Freeze/thaw cycles Stable x3
