Instructions
Preferred specimen: Plasma collected in Light blue top tube (sodium citrate)


Transport Temperature
NOTE: Double-centrifuged specimen is critical for accurate results as platelet contamination may cause spurious results. Specimen: Plasma, frozen Volume: 2 mL Minimum Volume: 1 mL (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.) Transport Container: Plastic vial containing plasma from Light Blue top tube Specimen Collection: 1. Centrifuge, transfer all plasma into a plastic vial, and centrifuge plasma again. 2. Aliquot plasma into a plastic vial leaving 0.25 mL in the bottom of centrifuged vial. 3. Freeze plasma immediately (no longer than 4 hours after collection) at -20 degrees C or, ideally, at < or =-40 degrees Transport Temperature: Frozen Turn-around-time: 2-3 days Cause for Rejection: Severe hemolysis; improper labeling; clotted specimen; specimen diluted with IV fluids; samples thawed in transit; improper sample type; sample out of stability.
