Instructions
Preferred specimen: Collect 2 mL blood in serum separator tube or red-top tube AND 2 mL blood in lavender-top EDTA tube Special instructions: Collect blood mid morning, after the patient has been up (sitting, standing, or walking) for at least two hours and seated for 5 to 15 minutes.


Transport Temperature
Specimen: Serum (refrigerated) and plasma (frozen) Volume: 1 mL serum and 1 mL plasma Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum and 0.8 mL plasma (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.) Specimen Container: Red-top tube or gel-barrier tube and lavender-top (EDTA) tube Specimen Collection: Collect blood mid morning, after the patient has been up (sitting, standing, or walking) for at least two hours and seated for 5 to 15 minutes. Refer to descriptions for individual tests Renin Activity, Plasma [002006] and Aldosterone, LC/MS [004374] for more detailed preparation and test collection information. After collection, immediately centrifuge the lavender-top tube at room temperature, transfer plasma to a transport tube, and freeze. Label this tube ""Frozen Plasma?Renin."" If a red-top tube is used, transfer separated serum to a plastic transport tube. Label the serum tube ""Serum?Aldosterone."" To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested. Transport Temperature: Serum, refrigerated and plasma, frozen Turn-around-time (From date of pickup of specimen by Labcorp): 1-5 days
