Instructions

Kits are provided to you at no charge. Each kit provides for proper collection, fixation, identification and transport of nerve biopsies for the following: Routine formalin-fixed paraffin embedded histology (FFPE), Enzyme histochemistry (EHC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Electron microscopy (EM) Bottle 1 with saline-dampened telfa, to receive fresh unfixed sample for EHC and IHC (Lavender Top) Bottle 2 containing 10% neutral buffered formalin for FFPE (White Top) Bottle 3 containing glutaraldehyde for EM (Red Top)

Transport Temperature

We accept local specimens Monday through Friday, and out-of-state specimens Tuesday through Friday (surgery Monday through Thursday). The nerve biopsy requisition with pertinent clinical history, as well as clinician contact information must accompany all specimens. Should you need a result on Saturday, you must contact us to make special arrangements as to avoid loss and/or degradation of the patient’s biopsy material.
