Instructions
This test requires special collection tubes. Contact the Hematology Department at Greenville lab at 5-7185 or Richland Central lab at 434-7770 for a special collection Greiner blue top tube and instructions.
Minimize time tourniquet is applied. Gently invert x 5 after collection.Do NOT shake or mix vigorously. Collect 2 tubes.
TO LAB IMMEDIATELY, DO NOT CENTRIFUGE TUBE, Do NOT use pneumatic tube - MUST be hand delivered to the lab, no exposure to ice or cold.
2 filled* 2.0 mL Greiner vacuette collection tubes containing 3.2% sodium citrate.
*Blood tubes must be filled to the stated volume. Over or under-filled tubes will be rejected.
Care must be taken to avoid contamination of the specimen with tissue thromboplastin. With difficult venipunctures, a waste tube is recommended before filling the blue tube.
