Transport Temperature

Collection: Blood OR Bone Marrow: Using sterile technique, collect 5 mL of blood OR 2 mL of bone marrow into a heparin, ACD, or EDTAtube or syringe.
Invert the tube several times to preventcoagulation. Specimens should be sent the same day ascollected.
Non fixed tumor tissue: Submit at room temperatureusing Lymph Node Transport Kit (supplied by Labcorp). Gelseparator tubes, microtainer tubes, and fixed cell pelletscannot be processed.
Volume: 5 mL whole blood, 2 mL bone marrow, OR >2-4 mm(3) tissue
Container: Whole Blood OR Bone Marrow: Green-top (heparin) tube(prefered); OR yellow-top (ACD) tube, OR lavender-top (EDTA)tube. Nonfixed tumor tissue: sterile container containing sterile saline, Ringer's lactate, OR Hank's balanced saltsolution OR transport medium provided by the cytogeneticlaboratory.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Causes for reject: Upon receipt, suitability of specimen will be determined bythe Cytogenetics laboratory.
