Instructions

Adult: Minimum 2.5 mL blood yellow, full lime *Pediatric minimum: 1 full microtainer*

Transport Temperature

It is recommended that tubes of blood are to be kept closed at all times and in a vertical position. It is required that the serum or plasma be physically separated from contact with cells within two hours from the time of collection. Yellow tube must clot for 30 minutes before centrifugation. Separated specimens are stable for 2 days at 20 to 25°C, 7 days at 2 to 8°C, or 1 day at -20°C orcolder. Stored specimens must be inspected for particulates. If present, mix and centrifuge the specimen to remove particulates prior to testing. *CO2 will be invalid if specimen uncapped more than 1 hour. We do not routinely run BMET on a frozen sample. Must be approved by Clinical Chemist.
