Assay is a qualitative in vitro diagnostic test for the detection of toxin B gene sequences and for the presumptive identification of 027/NAP1/BI strains of toxigenic Clostridium difficile from unformed stool specimens.


Preferred Specimen
Unpreserved stool, must be liquid or soft enough to conform to the shpae of the container.


Specimen Stability
Specimen is stable at room temperature for 24 hours.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Any preservatives in the specimen.
If the specimen is not liquid.


Methodology
Real-time PCR and real-time reverse-transcriptase PCR assays.
