Clinical Significance
To help with the diagnosis of lymphomas of follicular cell origin, in paraffin embedded tissues. About 90% of follicular lymphomas have a translocation that juxtaposes the bcl-2 gene to an immunoglobulin gene with subsequent deregulation of protein synthesis and cell proliferation.
