Preferred Specimen
Random urine.


Minimum Volume
10 mL sample from sterile primary container (min. 3 mL).  Sample must remain sterile in order to culture.


Transport Temperature
10 mL sample from sterile primary container (min. 3 mL).  Sample must remain sterile in order to culture.


Specimen Stability
Ambient: 1 hour; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: unacceptable


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Frozen specimens and gray top tubes (boric acid) for the urinalysis.
