Clinical Significance
This result represents the total level of all detectable tricyclic antidepressants present. Tricyclic antidepressants detectable with this assay include: amitriptyline, clomipramine, desipramine, doxepin, imipramine, nortriptyline, protriptyline, and trimipramine.Levels of tricyclic antidepressants in the therapeutic range may not be detectable. False-positive results may occur with the following drugs: Seroquel® (quetiapine fumarate), Trileptal® (oxcarbazepine), Benadryl® (diphenhydramine) at toxic concentrations, Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine), Thioridazine, and Thorazine® (chlorpromazine).
