Preferred Specimen
One 4 mL serum separator tube.


Minimum Volume
1 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.


Transport Temperature
1 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.


Specimen Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Specimens containing particulate material. Severely hemolyzed or lipemic specimens. Heat-inactivated specimens. Specimens collected in citrate-based anticoagulant.
