Preferred Specimen
Any body site or fluid. Source of specimen is preferred. (Detection by amplified nucleic acid methodology can be performed on genital specimens received in test-specific transport media.)
Minimum Volume
Inoculated Modified Thayer Martin agar sealed in plastic bag with CO2 generating tablet. Swab in Amies with charcoal. Sterile container (fluids only). Send immediately to ARUP at 20-25°C. Incubate at 35°C if delay occurs. Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.
Transport Temperature

Limitations
