Preferred Specimen
One plasma separator tube. Also acceptable: green (sodium or lithium heparin), lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).


Minimum Volume
0.5 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.


Instructions
Fasting specimen preferred.


Transport Temperature
0.5 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.


Specimen Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 weeks (should be thawed only once)


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Hemolyzed specimens.
