Preferred Specimen
Collect one 4.5 mL green top tube with gel (PST), completely filled. Gently invert tube 5 times immediately after collection. Protect specimen from light. The test, Total Bilirubin is also in CMP, HFP, and Newborn 9 panel.
Minimum Volume
1 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.2 mL) Submit specimen in an PMC Amber Transport Tube.
Transport Temperature
1 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.2 mL) Submit specimen in an PMC Amber Transport Tube.
Specimen Stability
After separation from cells and if protected from light: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 6 months
