Clinical Significance
Dysregulation of the nuclear cycle regulator p27 is implicated in the development and progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (including by HPV). Underexpression of p27 is an adverse prognostic marker in breast, lung, prostate, and thyroid carcinomas. It is also deleted/underexpressed in some high-grade hematopoietic tumors.
