Limitations
"May be negative in early meningitis. Does not replace Gram stain and culture. The sensitivity of the tests vary from 50% to 100% depending on the specificity of the antibody and the concentration of antigen in the specimen. This test was most useful for the detection of serious H influenzae infection. Because of the availability of vaccine, this test is of extremely limited value.
