Instructions
Centrifuge fluid at low speed (500xg) for three minutes. Carefully pour off the supernatant into a labeled transport tube. Discard the original tube and pellet. NOTE: Any prolonged centrifugation step can reduce recovery of the phospholipids to <50%. Amniotic fluid contaminated with blood meconium or vaginal secretion CAN be used for a PG determination but NOT L:S ratio. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, PLEASE SUBMIT SEPARATE FROZEN SPECIMENS FOR EACH TEST REQUESTED.
