Limitations
Some individuals with allergies have low total IgE but high concentration of allergen-specific IgE and may even suffer anaphylaxis with low to undetectable concentrations of IgE or allergen-specific IgE antibodies.
Clinical Significance
For diagnosis of allergic disease. A normal IgE level does not exclude the possible presence of an allergic disorder.
