Clinical Significance
Porphyria is a group of distinct disorders, characterized by the abnormal accumulation of porphyrins or porphyrin precursors. Porphyrin fractionation of urine is useful in diagnosing porphyrin cutanea tarda, hereditary coproporphyria, and variegate porphyria.
