Immediate Specimen Processing: Centrifuge specimen before transporting to the lab. If drawn using a plain red-top tube, allow to clot for at least 30 minutes but no longer than 1 hour before centrifuging, then transfer serum to a plastic screw-cap tube prior to transportation.
