PLATELET FUNCTION TEST
MessageCollect a full tube, following standard venipuncture techniques. Sample must be collected at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (inpatient or outpatient) Do not send specimen through pneumatic tube station. Do not spin/centrufuge. Venipuncture should be performed using a 21G or larger needle. Blood should be drawn directly into an evacuated plastic or siliconized glass tube or syringe containing 3. 2% buffered sodium citrate (1 part anticoagulant to 9 parts blood)

Minimum Testing Volume: 2.7 mL (x2) Transport Temperature: Ambient Stability: Ambient: 4 hoursRefrigerated : UnacceptableFrozen: Unacceptable Causes for Rejection: Specimens sent through the pneumatic tube station, submitted greater than 4 hours after collection at room temperature, insufficient quantities, clotted or have excessive hemolysis, icterus or lipemia.
