Remove only the upper 2/3 parts of the supernatant and transfer to a plastic screw-top transport tube. The centrifugation steps are crucial since complete removal of platelets from the plasma is important to obtain accurate results. Repeating the centrifugation and transferring the upper 2/3 parts of the supernatant to a third plastic tube may be advisable to minimize platelet contamination.
