Submit 1 of the specimens below following standard collection proceduresVagina, cervix, urethra or wound on Dacron or rayon swab with aluminum or plastic shaft with either Stuart or Amies liquid medium. Swab in transport media: M4, M4-RT, M5, M6, universal transport media, or ESwab is also acceptable1 to 2 mL Pelvic, peritoneal, amniotic, prostatic secretions, semen, reproductive drainage or fluid, pleural/chest, chest tube, pericardial, sputum, tracheal secretions, bronchial washings, bronchoalveolar lavage, lung fluid collected in a sterile leak-proof container . Transport media: M4, M4-RT, M5, M6, or universal transport media is also acceptable3. 1 to 2 mL Nasal washings, only on infants <3 months collected in a sterile leak-proof container 4. 0. 5 mL Synovial fluid collected in a Lavender EDTA, Dark blue EDTA, Red Plain, Pink EDTA tube or sterile leak-proof container 5. 10 mL First voided urine, patient should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior to specimen collection, in a sterile leak-proof container 6. 5 mm(3) Placenta, products of conception, urogenital, respiratory, bronchus, chest/mediastinal, bone, spine, or joint fresh tissue in a sterile leak-proof container . Do not add fluid
