Message
Patient Preparation: It is preferable for the patient to be off medications for three days before collection. Patient should avoid tobacco, tea, coffee for three days before specimen collection. Common antihypertensives (diuretics, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, alpha and beta blockers) cause minimal or no interference. Medications which are alpha agonists (Al Domet), alpha blockers (Dibenzyline) should be avoided 18-24 hours before specimen collection. Collect urine in 24 hour plastic leak-proof container Do not include first morning specimen; collect all subsequent voidings. The last sample collected should be the first morning specimen voided the following day
