Message
For fasting specimens, patients must refrain from eating or drinking anything but water for a minimum of eight hours. If the patient has not fasted for 8 hours the collection process cannot continue. The grey top (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride tube) is the preferred specimen collection container . Collect a full tube, following standard venipuncture techniques.
