Instructions
1. Specimens are best obtained a few hours after the person has gone to bed or first thing in the morning BEFORE A BOWEL MOVEMENT OR BATH.
2. Remove the cap with the paddle from the plastic container.
3. Using the paddle’s adhesive side labeled “ADH”, press its sticky surface against several areas immediately around the rectum. Insert the paddle back into the plastic container and screw the cap tightly.
4. Label the plastic container with the following information:
1. Last, first name
2. Patient DOB
3. Date of collection
4. Time of collection

4. Label the plastic container with the following information:

3. Date of collection
4. Time of collection
5. After specimen collection PLEASE wash hand thoroughly with soap and water.
6. Place the specimen in the zip lock bag provided and the requisition in the outer pouch.
7. Promptly forward the specimen and laboratory requisition to MML.
NOTE: If specimen cannot be delivery promptly, it needs to be stored in a dry cool place to prevent the pinworm eggs from hatching.
