Instructions
Sweat Chloride will not be collected on infants less than 48 hours old
In most affected infants the sweat test becomes positive between 3 and 5 weeks of age.

Reference Range
Less than 50 mmol/L : Normal result
50 mmol/L or greater : POSITIVE result
50 mmol/L or greater : POSITIVE result
Clinical Significance
This is a screening test for cystic fibrosis. Patients having a positive result should be referred to a cystic fibrosis care center for a quantitative sweat chloride concentration.
