Clinical Significance
Pathological increase of stool fat (steatorrhea) may occur in pancreatic digestive enzyme deficiency, bile deficiency (liver dysfunction), or intestinal absorption impairment. Screening for fecal fat may lead to further investigation, quantitative demonstration of increased excretion, and diagnosis.
