Instructions
Immediately after a fasting specimen is obtained, have patient ingest a 50 g dose of lactose (supplied by the laboratory), they have 5 min to consume. Draw subsequent specimens 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, 90 min, 120 min from the time the dosage was consumed. Label each with the specific draw time. Please note: Children should receive 1.75 g lactose per ideal body weight, up to 50 g. They have 5 min to consume the lactose. Samples are collected 15min, 30min, 60min, 90min and 120 minutes from the time the consumption was finished. Label and indicate specific draw time collected on each of the samples.
