Preferred Specimen
Seminal Fluid. The collection container should be a clean wide-mouth glass or plastic jar or container.The specimen can be obtained by masturbation and ejaculated directly into the specimen container. Collect the entire specimen avoiding spillage.

Collect the entire ejaculate (specimen)
Instructions
Determination of specimen collection day. At least six ejaculations are needed for spermatozoa to clear from the semen after vasectomy. The specimen must be submitted to the laboratory not more than one hour after ejaculation. Record the time collected and the time received. Note: Contraceptive Solutions and lubricants can not be used. The sample can be obtained through intercourse if the non-spermicidal polyurethane condom is used. Other condoms are not acceptable because they often contain spermicidal lubricants and powders. Contents of the condom are to be emptied into a container before deliver to the laboratory. Transport Temperature
The sample must be maintained at a temperature between room and body temperature (68-98.60 F) until it is submitted.
