Preferred Specimen
Source must be indicated on specimen label.  Pericardial fluid, Peritoneal fluid, Peritoneal Lavage, Synovial fluid, or Bronchial washing, Bronchial lavage or Bronchoalveolar lavage.

Body fluids are collected by a variety of methods. Once collected by the physician, the fluid should be put into a tube with either EDTA or Heparin as an anticoagulant by the lab staff.

Room Temperature:  Test immediately
Refrigerated:              Up to 8 hours
Frozen:                       Do not freeze
