Submit specimen with a Pathology requisition.
Label specimen container with patient's complete first and last name, date of birth, date and time of collection, and specimen source.

Instructions
1. Collect on sterile swab. 2. Smear specimen on clean slides that have been labeled with the patient's name. The slides can be prepared as: a. air dried b. Placed immediately in 95% alcohol c. Spray fixed (immediately). Please note if spray fixed. 3. The site of the specimen must be listed on the Cytology requisition along with all other pertinent patient information. 4. Send slides and completed requisition form immediately to the Cytology laboratory. NOTE: This is a Cytology specimen and should not be ordered in the computer for Microbiology. A requisition must accompany the specimen.
