Instructions
Disinfect site with Iodine prep. Insert needle at L3-L4, L4-L5, or L5-S1 interspace. Upon reaching the subarachnoid space, rmove the stylet and collect 1 - 2 mls of fluid into the collection tubes.
Transport Container
Sterile screw-cap tubes. If only 1 tube of CSF is collected, it should be submitted to Microbiology first; otherwise submit tube 2 to Microbiology.
