Instructions
1. Collect specimen from active site of infection using a culture swab.
2. Replace swab in sterile culture transport container.
3. Crush ampule to ensure specimen preservation.
4. Label container with patient’s full name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.

Clinical Significance
Useful for isolating and identifying pathogenic bacteria causing infectious processes of the genital tract. Note: Most genital specimens contain indigenous anaerobic flora and should not be cultured anaerobically under routine conditions.
