Container/Tube: Culture transport container
Specimen Volume: Swab
Collection Instructions:
1. Insert a culture swab at least 5 cm (2 inches) into anal orifice, rotate to ensure fecal specimen on swab, and remove.
2. Replace swab in sterile culture transport container.
3. Crush ampule to ensure specimen preservation.
4. Label container with patient’s name (first and last) and date and actual time of collection.

Clinical Significance
Useful for establishing presence of VRE. Note: This is a screen for 1 type of organism only. Other pathogens will not be identified or reported.
