Methodology
Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE)
Setup Schedule
Monday through Sunday
Reference Range
1.13-1.32 mmol/L
Clinical Significance
Useful for evaluation of nonbound calcium, calcium metabolism, physiologically active calcium fraction, and hyperparathyroidism. Occasionally, it is useful when hypercalcemia coexists with an abnormal protein state such as myeloma. It is also useful in assessing active calcium fraction in hypoproteinemia and acidosis when calcium is low.
