TEG Platelet Mapping

Test Code
35333

CPT Codes
85576 x 1; 85576-91 x3

Includes
The PlateletMapping cartridge consists of a set of blood modifiers, ADP and AA platelet agonists together with ActivatorF, which when used on a heparinized blood sample can measure the levels of platelet function.

The cartridge also contains an HKH (Kaolin with Heparinase) channel. Kaolin-activated test methods are used to reduce variability and to reduce the running time of a native whole blood test. This assay specifically determines the MA (Maximum Amplitude, a measure of clot strength) and the reduction in MA due to genetics, surgical procedures, and/or antiplatelet therapy and reports it as a percentage of reduction in clot strength.

Preferred Specimen
Green top (Sodium heparin), NO GEL

Minimum Volume
2.5 mL

Instructions
DO NOT SPIN

Specimen Stability
2 hours

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Spun tubes, gel tubes, clots, hemolysis, hemodilution, and short draw

Methodology
Clot formation

Setup Schedule
Monday through Sunday.

Clinical Significance
The TEG 6s Hemostasis Analyzer is intended for in vitro diagnostic use to monitor and analyze the coagulation state of a blood sample. The TEG6s analyzer records the kinetic changes in a sample of anticoagulated whole blood as the sample clots, retracts and/or lyses in real time. The system output consists of a table of numeric values derived from a graphical representation of the hemostasis curve, which depicts clot firmness over time.

The TEG Platelet Mapping test looks at both global hemostasis and platelet function.
