Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease

Message
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is among the Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE), a group of progressive and fatal neurological diseases caused by "prions" which are resistant to chemical and physical disinfection.  No tissues from known or suspected cases of CJD will be handled, processed or tested by Sierra Pathology Lab, regardless of tissue type.  Autopsies will not be performed on known or suspected cases of CJD.
