Resistance genes evaluated: IMP, OXA-48, VIM, NDM, KPC
Reference Range
Referenece Range: Negative
- PCR testing indicated carbapenem resistance is not due to carbapenemase activity. This information is used for epidemiology purposes.
- This organism is a Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).. Resistance gene present: (IMP, OXA-48, VIM, NDM. KPC)
Clinical Significance
The Xpert® Carba-R Assay, performed on the GeneXpert® Instrument Systems, is a qualitative in vitro diagnostic test designed for the detection and differentiation of the blaKPC, blaNDM, blaVIM, blaOXA-48, andblaIMP gene sequences associated with carbapenem-non-susceptibility. The test utilizes automated real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
