Patient Preparation
Semen collection instructions:
- Refrain from sexual intercourse and masterbation for 2-5 days.
- Produce the sample by masturbation without artificial lubrication.
- The whole ejaculate must be collected into a sterile wide mouth cup (such as a Urine container) or in a special condom specific for specimen analysis (regular condoms are unacceptable).
- Label the container with name, date, and collection time.
- Deliver to the testing laboratory within 1 hour of collection. Keep specimen warm in a pocket near to your body until delivered to the laboratory.
Specimen Stability
Specimens for evaluation of infertility must be kept warm (between 20° and 40°C) and transported to the laboratory within one hour of collection.

Clinical Significance
