Clinical Significance
Marked increase in peripheral blood leukocyte alkaline phosphatase is observed in multiple myeloma, Hodgkin's disease, polycythemia vera and infectious leukocytosis. Low or absent activity is seen in chronic myelocytic leukemia, hereditary hypophosphatasia and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.
