Instructions
Collect whole blood in 3.2% buffered sodium citrate (9:1 blood to sodium citrate). Venipuncture must be atraumatic.


Specimen Stability
Mix specimen well (minimum 10 times) and test within 4 hours of collection. Do Not Centrifuge


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Reject hemolyzed, clotted, overfilled, or short draw (<90%) samples. No samples for patients less than one year of age will be accepted.

Clinical Significance

The Aptem® assay is a semi-quantitative in vitro diagnostic assay on the Rotem® delta Thromboelastometry System to monitor the clot firmness of citrated whole blood specimens after blocking hyperfibrinolysis by aprotinin. The ap-tem® reagent is always used in conjunction with ex-tem® reagent.
