This procedure would only be required if a Cellular Therapy Product Bag were to crack or become damaged in any way during the thawing process, which is not sterile, and possibly contaminate Immune Effector Cell product. Since the cell preparation is a difficult process, the physician may decide to infuse the cells that have leaked into the non-sterile ziplock bag. A culture will be performed to determine next steps.
