Reference Range
Bordetella pertussis toxin (PT) Ab (IgG)
Bordetella pertussis toxin (PT) Ab (IgA)
≤10 Years | <66 IU/mL |
11-59 Years | <43 IU/mL |
≥60 Years | <32 IU/mL |
Bordetella pertussis toxin (PT) Ab (IgA)
<40 Years | <5 IU/mL |
≥40 Years | <8 IU/mL |
Clinical Significance
Levels of antibody recognizing pertussis toxin (PT) are typically increased following either vaccination or natural exposure to Bordetella pertussis. Detection of IgG antibody is more sensitive than detection of IgA antibody, since not all vaccinated or exposed individuals mount a detectable IgA response.
