Clinical Significance
In vitro diagnostic immunoassay for the qualitative determination of IgM response to the hepatitis A virus in human serum for use an an aid in the diagnosis of acute or recent infection (ususally 6 months or less) with hepatitis A virus.  Hepatitis A incubation is between 15 and 40 days and HAV is detectable at the onset of symptoms, while hepatitis A IgG may persist indefinitely.
