Clinical Significance
Rapid qualitative test for the determination of RSV antigen from the nasopharynx. Respiratory syncytial virus is a causative agent of highly contagious acute viral infection of the respiratory tract in pediatric and elderly populations. About half of all infants become infected within the first year of life, and RSV is the leading viral cause of nosocomial infection in children hosptalized for other reasons.
